you for visiting our website! We are located in Middle, TN. We live on a
beautiful mountain with a river that runs right behind us.
There are many animals that live on our farm and the surrounding areas most of which are wildlife such as deer and turkeys, eagles and hawks and an abundant number of coyote's, wolves and foxes among many others that live in the caves around us and on the bluff near the river. It is truly an idealistic place to live.
This farm has been in our family since 1919 and has seen many different types of farm animals but the only farm animals we currently have on the here are chickens and guineas. Though, in the coming years we do plan to add several other species of farm animals.
For the last five years we have been raising and breeding Heritage Orpingtons. We are striving to breed them back to the dual-purpose birds that they were originally bred to be. Though egg laying abilities and meat quantities are very important quality for our stock to have they must also pass several other quality tests before they can be entered into out breeding pens. They must fit the written Standard of Perfection for Orpingtons. All Orpingtons should be described as a bird that is very large and with more than an average amount of feathers throughout the body which gives the birds a very soft look with gentle contours.
In a well bred Orpington there will not be any sharp angles in their shape. The legs should be nearly covered by their skirt and their heads should be no smaller than two fingers wide. There is a lot more that goes into breeding these beautiful birds but those are the very basic qualities that all Orpingtons should possess.
